What This Opportunity Involves
Contributors will be tasked with designing original computational physics problems that simulate real physics research workflows. This includes creating problems that require Python programming to solve, utilizing libraries such as Numpy, SciPy, and Sympy. The problems must be computationally intensive, preventing manual solutions within reasonable timeframes, and demand non-trivial reasoning in mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics. Problems should be grounded in real research challenges or practical physics applications. Solutions will need to be verified using Python with standard physics simulation libraries, and clear documentation for problem statements and verified answers is essential.
What We Look For
This role is ideal for physicists with Python experience who are open to part-time, non-permanent projects. Key qualifications include a degree in Physics (Theoretical, Experimental, or Computational) or a related field, proficiency in Python for numerical validation (with equivalents like MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or domain-specific libraries considered), and at least 2 years of professional, research, or teaching experience. Experience with numerical simulation methods, the ability to design problems mirroring real research workflows, creative problem design across diverse physics areas, and familiarity with physics modeling and approximation techniques are also important. Strong written English (C1+) is required.

Project Time Expectations
Active project phases are estimated to require approximately 10-20 hours per week. This is an estimate for active project periods only and not a guaranteed workload.
Compensation
Contributors can earn up to the equivalent of $45 per hour, with the exact amount depending on individual expertise and contribution pace. Compensation levels may vary across different projects based on their specific scope, complexity, and required skills.
