SC Agro Associate

Role overview

The SC Agro Associate will support regional operations focused on farmer outreach, potato sourcing, storage upgrades, and compliance. The role works closely with the Regional Manager to strengthen the extension model, align vendor and territory coverage, and build sustainable supply networks for the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Regional Manager in rolling out an improved farmer-connect extension approach and help lead the team on the ground.
• Adjust territory coverage and vendor mapping in line with the revised operating model.
• Drive storage modernization efforts across the region and assist in implementing stronger storage systems.
• Promote storage network improvements and better handling protocols among team members.
• Build and maintain relationships with local government and administrative authorities to support long-term business continuity.
• Assist in preparing the annual operating plan for the region.
• Ensure steady potato availability for the plant across months and seasons by identifying, building, expanding, and sustaining agro contract and non-contract farming pockets.
• Support the rollout of contract farming practices, seed sales, and vendor database management.
• Identify and develop third-party cold stores in line with PIH standards for seed and chip-grade storage, and support long-term potato stock maintenance as per protocol.
• Maintain online records and documentation for chip-grade and seed material stored, ensuring SOX compliance in coordination with local commercial teams and head office.
• Identify and manage key supplier groups such as farmers, traders, cooperatives, associations, NGOs, and similar stakeholders, while sustaining strategic partnerships.
• Ensure partners and suppliers follow company rules, operational discipline, and required standards.
• Support and own the Engage Everyday CSR agenda to build lasting relationships with farmers and other stakeholders.

Experience and qualifications

• The role calls for 3 to 5 years of strong experience in agriculture input sales, procurement, or supply chain work within a sales, manufacturing, or processing environment.
• Hands-on exposure to farmers, traders, negotiation, selling, collaboration, agricultural departments, and state agriculture policy is important.
• Prior experience dealing with local government bodies, suppliers, transporters, and farmer unions is required.

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Burdwan, West Bengal, India.
