Scrum Master

About the role

This position is for a Scrum Master / Project Manager who can combine Agile leadership with enterprise project oversight to support major transformation work across technology and business functions. The role calls for someone who can guide delivery, strengthen governance, and keep releases predictable, high quality, and aligned with business objectives.

You will be expected to support Agile execution while also taking ownership of planning, stakeholder coordination, and delivery results across multiple cross-functional groups, including Product, Engineering, QA, Data, and business teams. The work involves balancing Scrum facilitation with more traditional project management responsibilities in a multi-team, dependency-heavy environment.

Office location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This is a permanent position with a hybrid arrangement of two days in the office each week.

Agile and Scrum leadership

• Run the full set of Scrum events, including sprint planning, daily standups, reviews or demos, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
• Encourage consistent use of Agile practices across several teams.
• Coordinate Scrum of Scrums or ART sync meetings to handle inter-team dependencies and keep everyone aligned.
• Spot, track, and eliminate blockers that could affect sprint or release commitments.
• Make sure sprint objectives stay connected to business priorities, timelines, and delivery milestones.
• Use retrospectives, team metrics, and coaching to support ongoing improvement.

Project and program management

• Create and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, and deliverables from start to finish.
• Define and monitor scope, schedule, cost, risks, and dependencies across initiatives.
• Maintain RAID logs covering risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies, along with mitigation actions.
• Lead release planning, roadmap coordination, and execution tracking across teams.
• Ensure work follows SDLC requirements, governance standards, and quality frameworks.
• Support delivery across Agile and hybrid project setups involving multiple teams.

Delivery oversight and execution

• Oversee delivery across engineering, QA, product, and business stakeholders.
• Help ensure releases are validated well, tested properly, and managed effectively for defects.
• Track metrics such as velocity, burn-down, predictability, and defect leakage.
• Assist integration work across systems, APIs, data platforms, and enterprise tools.
• Support release readiness, including stable environments, deployment planning, and rollback planning.
• Keep delivery on schedule while maintaining quality and compliance expectations.

Stakeholder and cross-functional management

• Serve as the main point of contact between business stakeholders, Product Owners, and technology teams.
• Align business goals with technical delivery plans.
• Provide clear status updates on progress, risks, dependencies, and release readiness.
• Handle stakeholder expectations and help resolve conflicts between teams.
• Support executive reporting and governance meetings with concise delivery insights.

Leadership and coaching

• Coach teams on Agile, Scrum, and hybrid delivery approaches.
• Guide Product Owners on backlog prioritization, story refinement, and value delivery.
• Build a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Encourage adoption of DevOps, automation, and CI/CD practices.
• Lead root-cause analysis and process improvement efforts to improve team performance.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a closely related discipline is required.
• At least 7 years of experience working as a Scrum Master in Agile environments.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise SDLC, Agile methods, and release management practices.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional groups across business and technology areas.
• Practical experience applying project management principles.
• Background managing complex dependencies in large enterprise programs.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management abilities.
• A servant-leadership approach with a track record of removing delivery blockers.
• Experience in retail or e-commerce is preferred.
• Agile certifications such as SAFe, CSM, PSM, or PMI-ACP are preferred.
• Experience supporting large-scale Agile programs or Release Train environments is preferred.

Additional information

Compensation is listed at CAD 90,000 to CAD 95,000 per year. The final offer may vary based on local market conditions, location, and job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and education or training. Compensation may also include benefits and/or other incentives where applicable.
