Codes Health currently serves over 130 law firms, including the nation's largest plaintiff firm.

The Work

The core engineering challenges at Codes Health revolve around managing data complexity and ensuring reliability in highly variable conditions. This involves effectively reverse-engineering the administrative processes of U.S. healthcare facilities and reconstructing them into a continuously learning system that adapts to thousands of edge cases.

Key technical tasks include:

• Developing end-to-end agentic systems that manage workflows across fax, email, web portals, and physical mail, with distinct processes for different document types.
• Processing medical records that average 300 pages, can sometimes exceed 30,000 pages, and often contain up to 70% duplicate information, while still extracting essential case-related data.
• Accurately matching patients and facilities within complex provider networks, where a single entity like NYU Langone may encompass over 340 distinct care locations without a standardized matching system.

The engineering team is small and collaborative, with all members contributing to various aspects of the product. Work is divided between automating the retrieval pipeline, developing the customer-facing product used by law firms, and implementing applied AI solutions across both areas. Engineers will shift focus based on evolving company goals, engaging with both customer feedback and the underlying data.

Who we're looking for

This position is open to candidates of all experience levels. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of shipping features from conception to production and a desire to own project outcomes. They should possess a deep understanding of data systems and the workflows managed by the agents. Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and a passion for building reliable systems using them is highly valued. The role also requires a willingness to engage directly with users to incorporate their feedback into product development. A strong inclination towards applying rigorous engineering principles to solve complex, economically significant problems is essential.

The successful candidate will collaborate directly with the founders and a small, high-caliber engineering team.

This role requires full-time, in-person presence in Dumbo, Brooklyn.
