직무 설명

Overview

Corlann’s West Region is recruiting support workers for Clarin Services in Clarinbridge, County Galway. The service is seeking 6 permanent full-time posts and 2 permanent part-time posts, and a panel may also be created to fill future temporary, permanent, or fixed-term support worker roles over the next 6 to 12 months.

About the Service

Clarin Services offers residential and day support in the Clarinbridge area and surrounding parts of County Galway. The service supports adults with high support needs and an ageing profile through both centre-based and community-based provision.

The organisation aims to build strong relationships with each person and their family, helping individuals be recognised as valued members of their local community while experiencing ordinary life, building friendships, and taking part in meaningful social roles.

Role Summary

The support worker will act as a key person in the day-to-day support of the people using the service. The role focuses on personal care, assisting with meals, hygiene, and wider wellbeing support where needed. It also involves helping each person develop and progress their individual plan and supporting them to achieve personal outcomes through creative, inclusive participation in everyday community life.

Reporting Line

The post reports to the Team Leader, Senior Staff, Team Manager, Service Coordinator, or Area Manager.

Key Duties

  • Provide day-to-day personal care and support in line with each individual’s needs.
  • Assist with meals, personal hygiene, and related physical wellbeing requirements.
  • Support the development and delivery of Individual Plans and related outcomes.
  • Encourage participation in ordinary community life through inclusive and imaginative support approaches.
  • Work flexibly across the duty roster, including evenings, weekends, split shifts, sleep-ins, and night duty when required.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should have a good general education. A recognised qualification relevant to intellectual disability is an advantage, and QQI Level 5 or above is desirable.

A full clean manual driving licence is essential, along with access to a car, as the role requires driving manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads.

Strong written and spoken English is essential. At least 6 months of experience in a healthcare setting and experience supporting people with an intellectual disability is desirable. Experience supporting people who display behaviours of concern is an advantage.

Working Arrangements

The role operates on a 14-day roster. Full-time posts are for 78 hours per fortnight. The part-time posts are for 50 hours per fortnight and 39 hours per fortnight.

Evenings and weekends form part of the roster. Occasional split shifts may be required. Sleep-ins and night duty are also part of the role to meet service needs. The service model requires staff to be adaptable in their working hours in order to deliver quality person-centred support.

Leave, Pay and Employment Terms

Annual leave is 22 days pro rata per year.

Pay is set at €34,881 to €47,624 per annum pro rata, across 13 increments. A long service increment applies, with €48,434 per annum pro rata payable after 3 years at the maximum point of the scale. Additional payments are made for weekends, public holidays, sleepovers, and night duty when worked.

Six of the posts are permanent full-time and pensionable. Two posts are permanent part-time and pensionable.

A probation period of 9 months applies from the start date. Employment may end during probation if the employer considers the appointee unsuitable, and the probation period may be extended at the employer’s discretion.
