Role Overview
This position is responsible for leading verification and validation activities that ensure products and systems meet performance and reliability expectations. The role covers requirements analysis, configuration data, automation-focused testing, test planning, execution, and reporting to support repeatable results. It also involves working at customer sites, other Cubic facilities, or remote locations when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the creation and programming of automated and semi-automated test equipment.
- Partner with management to shape testing concepts, goals, and priorities.
- Flag risks, cost impacts, and schedule considerations linked to different testing approaches and build stages.
- Work with engineering leads to refine product and system requirements.
- Review engineering test criteria intended for production use.
- Feed testability considerations into product and system design so they are built into new or upgraded solutions.
- Analyze test requirements and identify the most effective implementation methods.
- Recommend suitable equipment and materials for production testing, trials, demonstrations, and bid support.
- Prepare detailed test plans covering scope, resources, and timelines for managers, engineers, and customers.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and industrial engineering to determine the best build sequence and production configuration for verification.
- Estimate test time, cycle time, equipment utilization, and capacity with the relevant engineering teams.
- Recommend commercial off-the-shelf or bench-top test solutions where appropriate.
- Support first-article validation before production release using the required equipment and software.
- Work with design and quality teams to investigate root causes and resolve issues before release.
- Write automated test plans and procedures and execute test activities.
- Help create test documentation, troubleshooting guidance, and training support for test staff.
- Act as a technical bridge between product test, manufacturing, and design teams to resolve issues during production testing.
- Support customer acceptance testing at Cubic locations or on customer premises, including international and remote support as required.
Additional Duties
- Follow Cubic's quality management system requirements.
- Comply with health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Protect your own safety and that of others by following rules, reporting hazards, and participating in safety initiatives.
- Adhere to security procedures and organizational controls.

- Carry out other assigned tasks as needed.
Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in electronic engineering, computer science, information systems, or another relevant technical field is required.
- At least 5 years of experience with test methodology for electronic equipment, ideally in a product development environment.
- At least 3 years of hands-on testing experience across hardware, software, and systems.
- At least 5 years of experience creating test plans, procedures, and reports.
- At least 5 years of experience using test instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office tools, especially Word and Excel, plus other IT-based tools.
- Ability to work with software interfaces using message structures down to bit, byte, and data-structure level, including hexadecimal message formats used for interface testing.
- Understanding of formal EMC testing and environmental testing.
- Broad knowledge of hardware and mechanical systems.
- Experience supporting customer-facing acceptance testing and offsite testing is beneficial.
