Role overview
Arnold Clark is hiring an energetic and driven Valeter for its Central Car Auctions branch in Lingfield. The role focuses on making sure vehicles are displayed in excellent condition and suits someone who likes practical, hands-on work, takes great care over the details, and works well with others.
Working hours
This is a full-time position with the following schedule: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30am to 6:00pm, and Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30am to 5:30pm.

Main duties
- Prepare sold and stock vehicles to a consistently high standard
- Wash vehicle exteriors using high-pressure cleaning equipment
- Vacuum and shampoo vehicle interiors using industrial-grade equipment
- Use polishing and buffing tools to improve the finish of bodywork
- Follow health and safety requirements when handling cleaning chemicals
- Keep tools and machinery in good working order, report faults promptly, and follow manufacturer guidance and PPE advice
- Work efficiently to agreed deadlines and performance targets
- Use an online diary system to organise vehicle scheduling
- Maintain a daily log of completed work
- Assist with other branch tasks when needed
Skills and experience needed
The role calls for a full UK driving licence, basic computer literacy, strong attention to detail, self-drive, the ability to work within a team, good multitasking skills, and a willingness to join training programmes. Previous valeting experience would be an advantage, but it is not essential because training can be provided for applicants who show enthusiasm and meet the other key criteria. All new valeting staff will also attend the company’s Valet Academy.
