Role overview
The Actuarial Manager will be responsible for delivering high-quality actuarial consulting across life insurance, general insurance, and related areas such as banking. The role also includes strengthening client relationships, expanding the practice through business development and thought leadership, and helping build a capable actuarial team that can respond effectively to regulatory and market developments.
Key responsibilities
You will be expected to lead actuarial work end-to-end, support business growth, and contribute to team development and cross-functional delivery.
- Own and deliver actuarial valuation and reserve modelling assignments for statutory and management reporting, ensuring the results are suitable for audit review and supported by strong documentation.
- Check and challenge models, assess assumptions, run sensitivity and scenario analysis, and communicate conclusions to senior client stakeholders.
- Advise clients on capital management, reinsurance arrangements, and actuarial governance structures.
- Maintain high technical standards through peer review, robust documentation, and adherence to professional requirements.
- Build and improve actuarial models, methods, and reusable templates that can be applied across multiple engagements.
- Use advanced analytics where it clearly adds value to client outcomes.
- Stay current on actuarial best practice and relevant regulatory updates.
- Identify new business opportunities, support proposals, pricing, and presentations, and lead client pitches where needed.
- Create thought leadership content that strengthens the practice’s market presence.
- Track market and regulatory developments and turn them into improved or new service offerings.
- Coach, mentor, and develop junior team members.
- Promote knowledge sharing and quality assurance across the team.
- Represent the firm positively in the market and help attract strong talent.
- Collaborate with audit, assurance, consulting, and data teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Contribute actuarial expertise to cross-service engagements and internal bids.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science.
- Progress well into actuarial qualification, with at least 7 actuarial papers completed.
- At least 6 years of actuarial experience.
- Proven experience leading and managing teams.
- Strong modelling ability, including experience with actuarial software such as Prophet, AXIS, or similar tools, plus programming capability for analytics using VBA, R, Python, or equivalent.
- Ability to produce audit-ready reports and clear, persuasive presentations for senior audiences.
- Practical experience improving engagement efficiency through process improvements, standard templates, automation, or tooling.
- Willingness and ability to travel locally and internationally when required.
