Role Overview

Auta Group is expanding its architectural design capability and is looking for a motivated Architectural Designer / Design Coordinator to support a range of developments across South Australia. In this position, you will work closely with design, development and construction teams across the full project journey, from early concept ideas and approvals through to documentation and delivery.

This opportunity offers practical involvement in residential and mixed-use projects, with exposure to both design and project coordination responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create drawings in AutoCAD, Revit and SketchUp.
  • Refine design solutions to suit project briefs and Australian building standards.
  • Work with management and consultants to incorporate design changes and revisions.
  • Participate in site visits, design coordination meetings and project review sessions.

Design Coordination & Project Support

  • Assist the Pre-Construction Manager with coordination tasks and project documentation.
  • Help prepare and track project programmes so milestones remain on schedule.
  • Communicate with architects, consultants, contractors, suppliers and government bodies.
  • Prepare and submit development approval materials through PlanSA.
  • Keep project records and documentation accurate and up to date.
  • Coordinate material choices, purchasing activities and supplier communication.
  • Follow project progress and share regular status updates with management.

Building Specifications & Technical Documentation

  • Create, maintain and improve building specifications for projects.
  • Update schedules for materials, finishes, fixtures, fittings and construction standards.
  • Collaborate with design, procurement and project teams on technical specifications.
  • Maintain material libraries and approved supplier lists/databases.
  • Ensure specifications reflect current Australian regulations, industry requirements and new product developments.

About You

You should have a background in architecture, architectural design or a closely related field, with experience in residential design or property development preferred. Recent graduates with strong portfolios are also encouraged to apply.

To succeed in this role, you will need strong communication and organisation skills, a sharp eye for detail, the ability to manage several projects at once, a valid Australian driver's licence and unrestricted work rights in Australia.
