Role Summary
As an Assistant Accountant, you will support day-to-day accounting operations, reporting, and compliance activities. This position involves maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with reconciliations and closing tasks, and helping ensure adherence to Saudi tax requirements.
Key Duties
- Enter routine accounting transactions and post journal entries on a daily basis.
- Handle invoices, receipts, and payment requests in an organized manner.
- Support both payable and receivable workflows.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and help investigate and correct mismatches.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Keep accounting files, records, and supporting documents well maintained.
- Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Track expenses and assist with cost allocation tasks.
- Support checks of inventory and fixed assets.
- Liaise with internal teams on finance-related issues.
- Assist during internal and external audit processes.
- Help maintain compliance with Saudi tax requirements, including VAT.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a Saudi national with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline. This opportunity is suitable for a fresh graduate or someone with up to 1 year of relevant experience. A basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting is expected, and knowledge of Saudi VAT rules will be considered an advantage.
Skills and Strengths
You should bring strong analytical and numerical ability, careful attention to detail, and confidence working with Microsoft Excel and other Office tools. Familiarity with ERP platforms is an added benefit. Good communication skills, teamwork, sound organization, time management, and a high standard of confidentiality and professional conduct are also important.
Additional Qualifications
- Solid bookkeeping ability, including general ledger upkeep, journal posting, and account reconciliations.
- Comfort using accounting software and Excel for data entry, spreadsheet analysis, and basic reporting.
- Working knowledge of accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, billing, and collections support.
- Understanding of core financial principles, financial statements, and closing procedures.
- Strong accuracy in numerical work, with excellent organization and time management.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across departments and support internal stakeholders.
- Ability to manage sensitive financial information responsibly and follow established controls and policies.
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related area, or equivalent practical experience.
- Previous exposure to accounting or finance support work is preferred; experience in a technology or digital solutions environment is an advantage.
- Willingness to work on-site in Riyadh and adapt to a fast-moving environment tied to digital transformation initiatives.
