Assistant Learning and Development Manager

Role overview

As an Assistant Learning and Development Manager, you will help plan, deliver, and assess training initiatives that create a positive experience for team members. In this role, you will also guide managers on correct policies and procedures and support day-to-day people operations across the hotel.

Key responsibilities

• Guide managers on the right policies and procedures to follow.
• Assist the hotel in meeting departmental training needs.
• Plan, conduct, and review training programs when required.
• Support senior managers with succession planning during the twice-yearly appraisal cycle.
• Handle employee relations matters confidentially, including disciplinary actions, grievances, and capability concerns.
• Monitor absence records in line with company standards.
• Keep the online personnel system, payroll records, and monthly reports up to date.
• Support the recruitment and selection process and ensure immigration checks are completed correctly.
• Oversee completion of training related to hotel security, fire safety, and other health and safety requirements.
• Help organize social events for team members.
• Partner with local organizations and schools to promote careers in hospitality.
• Encourage awareness and use of employee benefits.
• Support and resolve questions from team members and management.

Qualifications and skills

You should have CIPD qualification, be working toward one, or hold an equivalent credential. Experience or knowledge in hospitality is important, along with a solid understanding of employment law and employee relations. Strong IT skills are also required.
