Role Overview

North Attleboro Public Schools is hiring a full-time Athletic Director to oversee the K-12 athletic program and student activity operations. Reporting to the high school principal, this role is responsible for leading, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating the district’s athletics program, with direct involvement in scheduling, finances, equipment management, and curriculum-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

Assign coaches to all sports teams each year.
Monitor student-athletes’ academic standing and medical eligibility.
Oversee the Athletic Trainer.
Maintain adherence to all MIAA regulations, reporting obligations, and communications.
Prepare and manage quarterly athletic eligibility reports.
Develop the annual athletics budget and supervise bidding, purchasing, distribution, and safeguarding of athletic materials, equipment, and supplies.
Participate in advisory groups and project committees as needed.
Coordinate transportation for athletic events, with an emphasis on combining team travel to help reduce costs.
Plan game schedules and arrange fields, gyms, buses, officials, timekeepers, and other operational needs.
Track student-athlete records and awards, including the Fisher Kelly Banquet and community athletic award events.
Work with NAPS and NA leaders, parents, students, and community members on athletics-related matters.
Design and implement student leadership initiatives, including a Captain’s Council.
Organize parent meetings before each sports season.
Promote annual athlete workshops covering sportsmanship, fair play, drug and alcohol awareness, steroid education, and harassment prevention.
Oversee high school physical education and health programs.
Support evaluations of physical education and health teachers across levels when requested by principals.
Represent athletes at state and regional meetings.
Complete required MIAA and DESE documentation.
Carry out additional duties related to the role as assigned.

Qualifications

Must hold Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education administrative licensure, or an accepted alternative such as CAA (Certified Athletic Administrator) certification.
Preferred background includes at least 3 years of experience as an athletic director, or 10+ years as a varsity or college head coach.
Strong people skills are needed to work with parents, students, coaches, and advisors with tact, sensitivity, and confidence.
Comfort and proficiency with digital communication tools, including social media and other online platforms, are required.
