Role Overview
The Standard, Singapore is seeking a Bartender for its Singapore venue. The role focuses on delivering memorable guest experiences through attentive service, strong product knowledge, and efficient bar operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Pay close attention to each guest, including verbal and non-verbal cues, so their needs are understood and their experience feels personal and memorable.
- Build a familiar, name-based rapport with guests and remember their preferences to support a more customized service style.
- Develop a solid understanding of the outlet’s theme, menu, and beverage selection, and confidently describe them to guests in an engaging way.
- Prepare a wide range of cocktails, non-alcoholic drinks, spirits, beers, and wines; apply proper garnishing standards and be able to explain the drinks’ traits.
- Prepare the bar at the start of each day by organizing mise en place, ingredients, and equipment for smooth and efficient service.
- Arrange bottles and ingredients according to bar standards so items are readily accessible during service.
- Support the Bar Supervisor and Head Bartender in developing new cocktails and mixed drinks for promotions and new menus.
- Review inventory before each shift to ensure stock levels are sufficient and service is not interrupted by shortages.
- Process payments accurately, including cash, cards, and other methods, using the POS system.
- Shut down the bar at the end of the shift, which includes cleaning and sanitizing the bar, equipment, and tools, checking inventory, and storing supplies securely.
- Keep the bar area clean and sanitized after each shift and whenever needed.
- Monitor and record fridge temperatures and follow FIFO stock rotation practices.
- Follow all food and beverage procedures, as well as applicable liquor and beverage regulations, while practicing responsible alcohol service.
- Take prompt corrective action when mistakes happen and aim to resolve issues in a way that goes beyond guest expectations.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of bartender experience in a comparable luxury hotel or standalone restaurant environment with guest-facing service responsibilities.
- Strong spoken, reading, and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt communication style when dealing with different people.
- Previous participation in bartending competitions is considered an advantage.
