Role overview

Siemens Energy is seeking a Bid Manager to support global sales efforts for new equipment, with the exact project assignment depending on business needs. The role is associated with one or more CP product lines, including Centrifugal Compressors (Single Shaft).

Key responsibilities

  • Analyze customer RFQs, choose suitable equipment, and configure complete solutions using internal engineering tools or other relevant selection systems. Build a strong value proposition, define the supply scope, respond to technical specifications, and prepare buyout RFQs.
  • Work with vendors in coordination with the Project Procurement Manager, carry out cost studies, prepare pricing and payment milestones, and ensure supplier payment terms are aligned. Perform cash flow assessments and partner with regional coordination, operations, shared services such as Commercial and Finance, and Field Service teams to identify risks, define mitigation actions, and complete technical and execution risk documentation.
  • Seek commercial-risk direction from the Sales Manager or Opportunity Leader. Manage the Proposal Bill of Material, system drawings, and project schedule, and update Sales Force as needed for responsibilities under Bid Management. Support Sales Managers in shaping technical and commercial approaches for successful order capture.
  • Contribute to quantified value propositions and bring together technical work, products, and services, including vendor packages, into proposals within deadlines. Check proposal quality and compliance for completeness, correctness, configuration accuracy, cash flow analysis, execution and commercial risk forms, and timely submission.
  • Spot opportunities to reduce time or cost in proposal development and help implement process improvements. Complete the Risk and Opportunity Analysis before issuing proposals, with attention to margin checks, currency exposure, payment terms, cash flow, cancellation terms, and execution risks. Review pricing against approved limits and prepare pricing recommendations for approval.
  • Join customer clarification discussions, build understanding of customer applications, operating processes, competitors, and market offerings. Prepare pre-release and order-entry packages for manufacturing on time. Take part in and lead internal and customer kick-off meetings, support the order-capture team with internal approvals, and assist with project or product presentations while maintaining strong ethics and integrity.

Requirements

  • 12 to 15 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience from an accredited higher education institution.
  • Knowledge of compressor applications is an advantage.
  • Good command of Microsoft Office tools and selected engineering software.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong spoken and written English; bilingual ability and international exposure are beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel within the country and internationally for training, presentations, bid clarifications, project kick-offs, and market awareness activities.
