Job overview
The Business Development Representative supports branch-level growth by expanding the loan portfolio, consistently working toward monthly lending targets while keeping delinquency under control. This role builds and maintains relationships with customers and prospects, identifies fresh business opportunities, and creates practical go-to-market plans aimed at generating measurable revenue. The position also manages early-stage sales activity and helps move prospects through the first part of the sales cycle.
Key responsibilities
- Meet prospective borrowers in branch and in the field to pre-assess eligibility for different loan products.
- Review applicants’ financial position, credit profile, and property assessments to judge whether lending is viable.
- Evaluate a borrower’s business background, income streams, credit history, overall debt, and repayment ability.
- Check financial ratios such as debt-to-income to confirm they align with lending standards.
- For secured loans, inspect the asset, verify title status, and assess recovery value if repossession becomes necessary.
- Notify applicants when loans are approved or declined and explain any extra documents or conditions needed for assessment.
- Build retention approaches by gathering customer feedback and feeding it into growth planning.
- Study the market to uncover new business opportunities.
- Present product and service benefits to prospects and follow up until deals are closed.
- Handle customer calls and meetings effectively to create new business opportunities.
- Represent the organization at forums, client meetings, and conferences.
- Arrange marketing presence at different organizations to generate leads and support loan growth targets.
- Carry out other reasonable duties assigned by the Business Development Manager.
Qualifications
- First degree in Business Administration or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar or closely related role.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Additional information
