Role overview
The Commercial Operations Manager will steer the company’s commercial workflow, making sure contracts are executed smoothly, proposals are built accurately, and customer relationships are handled effectively. The position calls for solid commercial judgment, strong negotiation capability, and the ability to guide and grow a high-performing team.
Key responsibilities
- Take ownership of reviewing, negotiating, and closing customer terms and conditions to achieve commercially strong outcomes for the business.
- Work closely with the legal team and other internal stakeholders to reduce exposure and maintain contractual compliance.
- Prepare cost sheets and commercial quotations in line with pricing strategy and target margins.
- Submit proposals on time and with accuracy for RFQs and tender opportunities.
- Manage the internal tollgate workflow, ensuring every required approval and document checkpoint is completed before any submission or execution.
- Improve commercial process efficiency and strengthen compliance with stage-gate requirements.
- Track customer orders through the full execution cycle, including production coordination and delivery schedules.
- Serve as the main contact for order-status follow-up and help remove delays in coordination with operations and planning.
- Collaborate across sales, planning, finance, and engineering to keep work moving smoothly.
- Lead initiatives that improve commercial processes and overall effectiveness.
- Build and maintain reports and KPIs to measure performance and identify improvement opportunities.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or another relevant discipline.
- Additional professional education or certification in contract management, commercial negotiation, or project management will be considered an advantage.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience in commercial management, sales operations, or contract administration, ideally in manufacturing, industrial, or energy environments.
- Hands-on experience reviewing and negotiating customer terms and conditions.
- Proven ability to prepare cost sheets and commercial proposals.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in sales, finance, planning, and operations.
- Strong knowledge of pricing structures, cost build-ups, and proposal workflows.
- Understanding of order lifecycle management from purchase order issuance through production and final delivery.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint; ERP system familiarity is highly preferred.
