Job SummaryThe Continuous Improvement Manager (CIM) will spearhead strategic and practical initiatives aimed at boosting efficiency, reducing costs, and optimizing processes across Daniels Health’s U.S. operations, encompassing both plants and transfer stations. This remote position requires frequent travel to collaborate with regional and local operations leadership, as well as national Maintenance and Engineering teams. The CIM will identify and implement sustainable improvements to elevate operational performance. The role emphasizes the hands-on application of Lean, continuous improvement, and industrial engineering principles to achieve tangible gains in productivity, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness, while cultivating a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
What You'll Do- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and other structured problem-solving methodologies to eliminate waste and drive significant cost reductions.
- Identify and execute opportunities to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance at processing plants and transfer stations.
- Develop and mentor cross-functional teams in the application of loss elimination tools and methodologies.
- Engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, from frontline staff to senior management, in idea generation, problem-solving, prioritization, solution development, testing, and deployment.
- Coach and train site teams on Lean principles, structured problem-solving, and root cause analysis techniques, including PDCA, DMAIC, AMD, Loss Analysis, 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone diagrams.
- Establish internal CI champions and robust sustainment mechanisms to ensure the long-term success of improvement initiatives.
- Support the design of improved processes, automation projects, and infrastructure enhancements to lower costs and increase throughput.
- Collaborate with regional and site leadership to drive initiatives that reduce operational expenses through enhanced process efficiency, waste reduction, and optimized resource utilization.
- Promote data-driven decision-making and evidence-based validation as standard practice for developing and implementing solutions.
- Develop and standardize best practices to improve reliability, minimize variability, and boost Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Work with regional operations leadership to prioritize and execute improvement initiatives aligned with broader regional and national objectives.
- Partner with local and national Maintenance and Engineering teams to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and maximize asset utilization.
- Travel approximately 50% of the time to various business units.
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or equivalent practical experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in continuous improvement, process engineering, or operational excellence roles within manufacturing, logistics, or industrial settings.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Demonstrated experience applying structured problem-solving methodologies such as PDCA, DMAIC, DFSS, or 8D in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Proven track record of successfully implementing structured loss elimination projects that yielded measurable cost savings.
- Strong capabilities in analysis, communication, and project management, with the ability to influence stakeholders across all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change initiatives across multi-site or regional operations.
- Comfort and willingness to engage in hands-on work within plant and transfer station environments.
- Experience collaborating with engineering and maintenance teams on process optimization projects.
- Previous experience in a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) environment or a similar framework.
- Experience within the healthcare, environmental services, food & beverage, or other regulated industries.
- Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and data analytics tools like SAP, Power BI, or Tableau.
