Crew Member - Full Time

Role overview

This full-time, on-site crew member role supports landscape installation and maintenance work across assigned properties. The job centers on completing enhancement projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, including mowing, cleanup, mulching, trimming, pruning, fertilizing, weed control, planting trees and shrubs, installing flowers, and removing leaves.

Core duties

• Operate job-site equipment such as skid steers, excavators, backhoes, and other powered tools as needed.
• Carry out landscape maintenance tasks, including chemical spraying and other applications that require licensure.
• Handle chemicals lawfully and safely, including storage, transport, mixing, and application.
• Follow layouts, installation directions, and project plans in coordination with the Crew Leader and Operations Manager.
• Load and unload tools, equipment, and supplies from trucks.
• Follow the preventive maintenance process, clean equipment thoroughly after use, and return items to designated storage areas each day.
• Use all tools and equipment in line with company safety standards.
• Help keep jobsites, vehicles, trailers, warehouses, and offices orderly, safe, and clean.
• Report site concerns, equipment issues, supply shortages, accidents, or losses to a supervisor promptly.
• Work in accordance with company policies, procedures, and safety rules, especially when using equipment.
• Ensure tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Take part in training as required.
• When needed, safely transport crew members to and from the worksite in a company vehicle.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• You should be able to read architectural drawings and follow property maps.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail.
• Capability to coach and train new laborers.
• Strong reliability, punctuality, and willingness to work the hours needed to finish jobs, with schedules that can change based on weather and season.
• Well-organized, hardworking, safety-minded, self-driven, honest, and customer-focused.
• Comfortable communicating with others and understanding written and verbal instructions; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
• Accountable and able to follow directions carefully.
• Solutions-oriented and able to use feedback to improve performance.

Education and experience

• 2 or more years of landscape installation experience.
• High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Screening and licensing

• After an offer is made, you may be asked to complete a pre-employment drug screening and a background check and/or MVR check.
• A driver’s license is preferred but not required.

Work conditions

• Outdoor work in varied weather, including hot, cold, humid, and turbulent conditions.
• Exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, fumes, dust, gasoline, oil, grease, herbicides, pesticides, and other horticultural materials.
• Work on uneven terrain for long periods and potentially at different heights above ground.
• Possible exposure to irritating plants, biting or stinging insects, dogs, and other animals.
• Workdays may run 8 to 10 hours, with the possibility of longer shifts and overtime during emergencies, including holidays and weekends, depending on call-in needs.

Physical demands

• Ability to perform the role for at least 8 hours at a time.
• Must understand and follow proper safety procedures and OSHA regulations, and respond quickly in emergencies.
• Ability to maintain focus for long periods.
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as needed.
• Must be able to enter and exit vehicles multiple times per day.
• Physical activity frequency may include rare crawling, climbing poles, and using ladders; occasional sitting, distant vision, stair climbing, and lifting 10 to 50 pounds; frequent sensory awareness, speaking clearly, climbing in and out of trucks, reading, hearing, pushing, pulling, balancing, and lifting up to 50 pounds; and continuous walking, standing, manual dexterity, bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, seeing, reaching, color vision, carrying, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
