Role overview
Hertz is looking for a Damage Appraiser to inspect vehicle damage with precision, document findings in detail, and use VALE national certification or comparable industry experience to support accurate repair decisions. This role calls for deep hands-on knowledge of vehicles, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to recognize a wide range of damage types across the Hertz fleet. Strong communication, planning, and independent working skills are important for success.
What the role involves
In this position, you will assess body damage and recommend repair actions in line with company standards and policies. You will coordinate with the vendor repair network to help ensure repairs are completed quickly and to a high standard. You will also partner with field teams to process and relocate vehicles, and you will handle vendor payments along with timely review and processing of repair invoices.
Key duties
- Examine vehicle damage estimates, review them carefully, and approve them when appropriate.
- Communicate with vendors regarding repair estimates and evaluate all incoming damaged vehicles.
- Use Hertz tools and damage-estimating software to assess vehicle condition and repair needs.
- Work with internal teams such as field operations, finance, and maintenance, as well as outside partners and body shops.
- Oversee body damage repair shops each day, track active repairs, and resolve delays.
- Support savings initiatives by reviewing estimates accurately and working closely with the repair network.
What you should bring
The ideal candidate has VALE National certification or equivalent experience in body damage evaluation, gained from either the insurance or repair side. You should be comfortable using computers and common business tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft applications, and Oracle-based products. You’ll need the ability to learn multiple internal systems, solve problems across different tools, and work effectively with teams across functions and locations.

- Certified through VALE National or experienced in body damage appraisal through equivalent work background.
- Comfortable using computer systems, including Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, and Oracle products.
