Role overview
Boots is hiring a Dispenser to join the in-store pharmacy team in Stoke-On-Trent, England. In this position, you will support the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues in delivering safe, efficient pharmacy and healthcare services. You will also spend time in the healthcare area of the store, building trusted relationships with patients and helping them make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.
Day-to-day work includes welcoming customers, dispensing prescriptions, handling the safe sale of medicines, and offering guidance based on your healthcare knowledge. This role is based in a physical store in the UK; remote applications will not be considered. Applications from candidates outside the UK will only move forward if they can provide relevant UK qualifications and verified right to work.
Key duties
You will be responsible for prescription dispensing and supporting the safe supply of medicines, including tasks such as ordering medicines, labelling, dispensing, endorsing, and collecting prescriptions. You will work alongside store healthcare professionals to help deliver pharmacy services, provide advice to patients on medicines, and pass queries to the Pharmacist when needed. You will also follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed safely and legally, stay current with in-store innovations and operating processes, and help patients manage repeat prescriptions in a way that supports adherence and reduces waste.
The role also offers exposure to evolving in-store technologies and systems designed to improve patient safety and free up more time for patient care. Regular updates and training will be provided to build your healthcare knowledge, along with development opportunities such as training to become a Pharmacy Technician or progressing into store leadership.
Requirements
To be considered, you should have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2, or an equivalent qualification, or currently be working toward it and have completed the first year of an MPharm degree. You must also have a current and valid UK right to work. This role is not eligible for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.
Experience in community pharmacy would be an advantage.
Benefits
The role offers a starting hourly rate of £13.92, rising to up to £16.64 in selected London locations. Additional benefits include a discretionary Christmas gift payment, generous staff discount, enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption leave pay along with a gift card for anyone expecting or adopting a child, a flexible benefits scheme, and access to free 24/7 counselling and support through TELUS Health as part of the Employee Assistance Programme.
Additional information
Boots says it will not accept remote applicants for this vacancy. Applicants outside the UK will only progress if the required UK qualifications and right to work are confirmed and evidenced. Salary estimates shown on third-party sites are not provided or endorsed by Boots and may be inaccurate. The company is committed to an inclusive workplace and equal opportunity hiring.
If your application is successful, you will be contacted for an interview with the hiring manager. Although the job is advertised as full-time, part-time and job-share arrangements may be discussed during the application process. Reasonable adjustments can be provided if you need support during application or interview stages. After an offer is made, the successful candidate must complete a pre-employment check, which may include a DBS, PVG, or Access NI check depending on location. Boots is a Ban the Box employer and reviews applicants with criminal convictions on a case-by-case basis.
