Role overview
This position is part of the Rooms & Guest Services Operations team at a Courtyard by Marriott property in Singapore. It is a full-time, non-management role based on-site at 99 Irrawaddy Road, Novena, Singapore 329568.
Core duties
The role focuses on front desk and guest service operations, including handling check-ins, confirming guest identity and payment details, assigning rooms, issuing room keys, and setting up guest accounts based on individual needs. The job also involves entering Marriott Rewards details, checking that room rates align with market codes, recording exceptions, and making sure payment is secured before keys are issued.
Additional tasks include reviewing daily reports, logs, and contingency lists; completing cashier and closing reports; helping guests with directions and property information; managing special requests by coordinating with the right team members; following up to confirm issues are resolved; and processing all forms of payment, vouchers, paid-outs, and charges. The role also requires balancing and depositing receipts, counting and securing cash at the start and end of the shift, obtaining manual payment approvals, and informing Loss Prevention/Security about any guest-reported theft.
Leadership and team support
You will assist in training, evaluating, coaching, counseling, and motivating employees, while acting as a role model and a first point of contact for the Guarantee of Fair Treatment/Open Door Policy process. The job also calls for building positive working relationships, supporting team goals, and addressing employee concerns appropriately.
Service and communication standards
The position requires delivering attentive guest service, acknowledging guests warmly, anticipating needs, supporting guests with disabilities, and expressing appreciation sincerely. Clear and professional communication is essential, along with accurate written documentation and proper telephone etiquette. You must also maintain quality standards, protect confidential information, safeguard company assets, and ensure your personal appearance remains professional.
Operational expectations
Use computer and POS systems to enter and retrieve information accurately. The role may require extended periods of standing, sitting, or walking, as well as moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or placing objects weighing up to 10 pounds without assistance. Other duties may be assigned by supervisors as needed.
Preferred qualifications
A high school diploma or GED-equivalent is preferred. The ideal candidate should have at least 1 year of relevant work experience and at least 1 year of supervisory experience. No license or certification is required.
