Job Overview
The Field Engineer will apply conceptual knowledge of field experience with moderate guidance to solve straightforward field and yard-related issues. This role involves analyzing possible solutions using company standard procedures and processes, understanding key business drivers, and applying technical experience, judgment, and precedents to problem-solving.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Ensure all work adheres to Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment policies and procedures.
- Be prepared for offshore travel for job execution and onshore site work as needed.
- Propose modifications to technical details and drawings to enhance operational safety and clarify installation procedures.
- Develop vessel layout and barge loadout plans for transporting materials, equipment, and structures offshore to ensure safe and timely installation.
- Actively participate in project Constructability sessions, Readiness reviews, Hazard Identification studies, or Job Safety Analysis, and implement recommendations.
- Review and maintain project drawings and documents, reporting any discrepancies, errors, or omissions.
- Verify that the work scope is within the capabilities of the proposed equipment.
- Prepare offshore installation procedures in accordance with company standards, detailing methods, sequences, installation aids, and required consumables.
- Compile lists of construction materials and project consumables, coordinating procurement with the project coordinator.
- Issue Loadout Lists based on recommended practices for the relevant work.
- Coordinate with Marine, E&M, Welding, Quality, HSES, Survey & ROV, Diving Departments, and Subcontractors to ensure availability of necessary equipment and personnel for offshore execution.
- Witness and inspect pre-rigging, loadouts, and sea fastening, acknowledging receipt of fabricated structures and materials. Develop checklists and inspect loadouts per company procedures.
- Liaise with Production Engineers to verify loadouts of fabricated items.
- Coordinate with the logistics team regarding materials, structures, and equipment movements via ship, barge, or truck.
- Engage with customer representatives, subcontractor representatives at offshore sites, and the Operations Engineer.
- Monitor work progress and site conditions, informing the Operations Engineer of any developments that may impact the project schedule or execution sequence.
- Conduct work scope presentations to offshore personnel, explaining planning and execution, including contractual and technical aspects. Issue field sketches, data sheets, and checklists as needed.
- Assist in resolving technical problems encountered during offshore installation and contribute to corrective action plans.
- Prepare Post Job completion Reports according to company procedures.
- Compile as-built documentation and records as required by contract and approved project scope.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- 3-5 years of offshore installation experience.
- Proficiency in Auto CAD or similar tools.
- Solid understanding of design and offshore project execution.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with 3D software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Flexibility to travel to various job sites and work in diverse environmental conditions.
