Where you'll work
ജോലി വിവരണം
Why we are building this
Germany’s hospital sector is under pressure: a large share of hospitals are running at a deficit, while staffing, bed availability, and budgets are all stretched. On top of that, many surgeries still involve overnight stays even when they are no longer medically necessary. That keeps patients in care longer than needed, adds avoidable strain to infrastructure, and drives up costs for the system.
Tokura is creating a new model for ambulatory surgery centres in Germany to address this gap. The company is building software-first from the beginning, with the goal of helping people recover faster and making outpatient surgery the standard approach rather than the exception.
The business operates in a complex healthcare environment, but it is built to execute quickly: the leadership team has launched and scaled more than five ventures, the company is supported by top investors across technology and healthcare, and several clinical partners are already on board.
What you will own
As the Founding Product Manager, you will own TokuraOS, the orchestration layer that sits above existing clinic systems and coordinates the full care journey from patient intake through surgery, recovery, and day-to-day operations. This platform connects digital patient experiences, physical clinic infrastructure, and a shared data layer into a production-ready system that must function reliably in live clinical settings and scale to more than 100 clinics.
What this role includes
This is the first product hire, with a clear opportunity to help build, define, and later lead the product function together with the CPTO. You will have the chance to shape a critical product from the ground up.
You will have strong ownership from day one: setting product vision, defining the roadmap, deciding how the product should behave in real clinic workflows, and leading user change management. Your work will span both product decisions and direct field research in and around the operating room.
The roadmap is deliberately open. While there is a strong view on what needs to be built and in what order, the final direction is intended to be co-created with you.
This is a true full-stack environment. The team is not only building software, but also operating physical clinics, which makes the work more complex than a pure software business and potentially much more impactful.
You will work in a small, high-caliber, trust-based team alongside the CPTO, a serial founder and Y Combinator-backed technologist with McKinsey experience, as well as an experienced founder duo that has previously built and scaled multiple hyper-growth startups to 400+ employees.
What you bring
The ideal candidate has already helped shape products that are used meaningfully in complex real-world settings.
You should be able to turn the messy reality of a care journey into an experience that feels notably better for patients, providers, and the wider care team. From intake to post-operative recovery, you will need to understand and improve every key touchpoint.
You are expected to think strategically, structure ambiguous information well, and bring a strong sense of product design. Comfort at the intersection of product and technology is important.
A strong appetite for learning matters more than formal credentials or a long resume.
You should communicate clearly, think in structured ways, and earn trust quickly with surgeons, nurses, and patients alike.
High ownership, dependability, and a bias toward shipping with short feedback cycles are essential.
Nice to have
It is beneficial if you have worked with sensitive data or in regulated settings where compliance and data protection are built into the product rather than treated as an afterthought.
Healthcare or healthtech experience is also a plus.
Logistics
This role is based in Berlin and is fully on-site. The start date is as soon as possible.
Compensation is attractive and includes meaningful equity upside.
Professional German language skills are required.
Working style and values
The team values judgment over rigid process, clarity over complexity, and products that actually work over products that merely look impressive. The belief is that strong products come from people who deeply understand the environments they are designing for and take real ownership of what they build and ship.
