ജോലി വിവരണം
Company Overview
Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) is a government-owned utility that oversees electricity generation, transmission, and bulk power delivery throughout Ethiopia. Its work spans major energy assets such as hydroelectric, wind, solar, and geothermal projects, all aimed at strengthening national development and widening energy access. The organization collaborates with domestic and international partners to improve and expand the country’s power infrastructure, creating opportunities for technical specialists to contribute to long-term sustainable energy planning.
Role Summary
As a Geologist with Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP), you will help assess, track, and interpret geological conditions for energy developments, with a focus on hydroelectric and geothermal projects. This is a full-time remote position that requires evaluation of geological, geophysical, and drilling information; creation of maps and models; and support for feasibility work and project risk reviews. You will examine site investigation findings, coordinate with engineering and environmental teams, and advise on geotechnical and geological factors that influence design and construction. The role also includes analyzing subsurface data, drafting technical documentation, participating in online meetings, maintaining data integrity, and supporting regulatory, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine and interpret geological, geophysical, and drilling datasets for energy project investigations.
- Prepare geological maps, cross-sections, models, and other technical outputs to support planning and design.
- Review site investigation materials and contribute to feasibility studies, hazard reviews, and risk evaluations.
- Work alongside engineering, environmental, and other multidisciplinary teams to resolve geological and geotechnical concerns.
- Analyze subsurface conditions and support resource assessment and structural interpretation activities.
- Develop clear technical reports and project documentation for internal and stakeholder use.
- Take part in virtual coordination meetings and communicate findings effectively in a remote setting.
- Maintain strong data quality practices and help uphold safety, compliance, and environmental requirements.
Requirements
- Practical field skills, including geological mapping and field interpretation, especially for energy-related projects.
- Hands-on experience with logging and drilling data used in subsurface characterization and site investigation.
- Working knowledge of geophysics and how it supports exploration, site evaluation, and structural analysis.
- Ability to analyze geological data and produce accurate reports, maps, cross-sections, and models using relevant software.
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Geology, Geosciences, or a related discipline; specialization in engineering geology, hydrogeology, or geothermal geology is an added advantage.
- Background in energy, infrastructure, or natural resource projects, preferably hydroelectric or geothermal work.
- Capability to perform well in a remote, collaborative environment with strong communication, coordination, and time management skills.
- Commitment to professional ethics, environmental responsibility, safety practices, and ongoing learning.
