About the Role

Mantra Heritage, Inlet and Village are three nearby properties in the centre of Port Douglas, in Tropical North Queensland, around one hour north of Cairns CBD. Together, they form a resort collection featuring modern studios and one- and two-bedroom suites, plus saltwater lagoon pools, sun decks and tropical gardens. Outside of work, the area offers access to the Great Barrier Reef, scenic rainforest skyrail rides and crocodile-spotting cruises through the mangroves.

Role Purpose

In this handyperson position, you will handle a wide range of maintenance, repair and improvement tasks across the property. The role suits someone who can notice potential issues early, act quickly to prevent larger problems and use practical skills to keep the site in excellent condition.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the upkeep of guest rooms, shared facilities and public areas so they remain in strong working order and present well.
• Work closely with a varied team while also being comfortable completing tasks independently when needed.
• Respond to day-to-day maintenance issues and think through practical solutions to new or complex challenges.
• Carry out planned maintenance and preventive maintenance activities as required.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate is physically capable, self-motivated and committed to finishing work safely and to a high standard. Previous hands-on experience in general building maintenance is preferred, including basic carpentry, plumbing or electrical work, although no formal qualification is necessary. Strong problem-solving ability and clear communication skills are important, as you will deal with the General Manager, guests and onsite contractors. Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and public holidays, is also required.
