About Nudge
Nudge is building technology aimed at creating better ways to interface with the brain so that it can improve people’s lives at scale. The company is beginning with a non-invasive ultrasound-based platform designed to both stimulate and image the brain with high resolution and depth. This work brings together hardware, software, and scientific research in one integrated effort, with the goal of developing products that could eventually benefit millions, and ultimately billions, of people.
The team is looking for people who are highly capable in their field, willing to tackle difficult problems, and committed to working with rigor, integrity, and sustained effort.
About the Role
In this role, you will help advance human neuroscience research focused on ultrasound neuromodulation. Your work will span study design, execution, analysis, and cross-functional communication with engineering and other internal partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, run, and interpret human studies involving ultrasound-based neuromodulation.
- Bring together findings from behavioral, observational, neuroimaging, and stimulation-based methods when shaping experiments.
- Adapt lessons from cell-based, animal, and engineering research into approaches that can be tested in people.
- Help identify and evaluate new neuromodulation targets using both internal research and external scientific evidence.
- Present scientific results clearly to engineering colleagues and other stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
Nudge is open to scientists at different stages of their careers. Regardless of seniority, the ideal candidate should bring strong foundations in neuroscience and excellent analytical and technical judgment.
Requirements
- PhD or postdoctoral training in cognitive neuroscience, neuroengineering, or a closely related science or engineering discipline.
- Solid grounding in the core principles of neuromodulation and neurophysiology.
- Hands-on experience with brain stimulation in humans, preferably including transcranial ultrasonic stimulation.
- Strong experience in collecting and analyzing interventional data, including fMRI, behavioral, and physiological measures.
- Excellent statistical analysis skills.
- Practical analysis experience using Python, R, and/or MATLAB.
- A track record of making strong technical contributions.
- High personal integrity and sound professional judgment.
Additional Information
This is a full-time onsite position based in San Francisco, California.
