Interior Designer

About the role

Undercurrent Studio in Wanaka is seeking an Interior Designer / Architectural Designer to join the team on a fixed-term or contract arrangement. The setup is flexible for the right person, and the ideal candidate will be based in Wanaka or nearby.

This role suits someone who thrives in a busy project environment and enjoys highly detailed design work. You will contribute to a range of hospitality, retail, workplace, tourism, and large commercial projects across New Zealand.

What you’ll be doing

• Develop design work across a variety of interior and architectural projects from early concept through to final delivery.
• Work closely with clients, consultants, and wider project teams to move projects forward.
• Prepare and submit building consent documentation in line with New Zealand requirements.
• Create detailed design outputs with a strong focus on accuracy and finish.

What we’re looking for

• Strong Archicad capability, which is essential for this role.
• Hands-on experience with preparing and lodging building consents in New Zealand.
• A genuine passion for design and a strong eye for detail.
• The ability to carry a project from concept stage through to completion.
• A collaborative approach when working with clients, consultants, and project teams.
