Junior Data Analyst

Job purpose

Emirates SkyCargo, founded in 1985 as Emirates’ airfreight arm, is the world’s largest international cargo airline. The business is expanding cargo capacity and developing specialised products to meet growing customer demand, and is seeking supply chain and logistics professionals to help support that growth.

The Junior Data Analyst will be an active contributor within a cross-functional team, working independently on technology development and issue resolution in the Enterprise Data & Analytics domain. The position focuses on sourcing, analysing, and transforming data so that Emirates Airlines and Emirates Group stakeholders receive the insights they need.

Key responsibilities

• Help gather data dictionaries and build business glossaries, while keeping core data repositories and analytics inventory records current as data sources and interfaces evolve.
• Provide administrative and support assistance to the Manager for data analytics and reporting delivery, including independent ad hoc analysis in assigned areas.
• Perform data profiling to assess incoming data quality and recommend cleansing rules or resolution approaches when issues or incidents arise, including identification of possible data-quality problems.
• Translate business transformation rules into solution designs or mapping documents so that the outcome delivers value quickly and appropriately.
• Carry out basic data-gap analysis by checking what information is available in the core repositories against what is needed.
• Prepare documentation for new or changed data interfaces, covering data-model fit, timing of data flow, source-to-target mapping, uniqueness rules, transformations, validations, and controls.
• Review technical solutions to confirm they align with analytical requirements and expectations.
• Assist in identifying source systems and carrying out profiling during discovery for new initiatives.
• Stay updated on changing data and analytics business domains so business glossaries remain accurate and solution quality and consistency are maintained.
• Work with senior and lead data analysts, chapter leads, and line managers to build capability in the data analysis tools and technologies used by Data Engineering.
• Support user training sessions on data and analytics by helping prepare training materials as directed by the Manager.

Requirements

• Completion of 12 years of schooling or an equivalent qualification is required. Candidates with 12+3 years of education in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering will also be considered. Study in Data & Analytics areas such as Data Warehousing, Data Science, or Business Intelligence is a plus.
• At least 4 years of experience in data analysis is preferred; candidates with fewer years may be considered if they hold a master’s degree.
• Minimum 1 year of hands-on data analysis work, including source-system identification, metadata or data-dictionary collection, profiling, and source-to-target mapping.
• Good understanding of business transformation rules and how they feed into data solution design.
• Exposure to moderately complex SQL queries for analysing data and sharing outputs with business users or project team members.
• Experience creating information designs for data-focused projects such as data warehouses, big-data analytics environments, data APIs, or business intelligence solutions, preferably in the airline sector.
• Familiarity with data governance or BI tools such as Collibra, Snowflake, MicroStrategy, Power BI, or Tableau is advantageous.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience in the airline or travel industry is a plus.
