Junior Software Engineer

About the Role

We are hiring a motivated Junior Software Engineer to join the engineering function in Canada. This role is ideal for someone eager to learn quickly, contribute to real products, and grow by working alongside experienced developers on the design, development, and upkeep of dependable software systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain readable, efficient, and well-structured code for core applications with support from senior engineers.
• Help investigate, reproduce, and fix software defects and performance-related issues.
• Take part in unit testing efforts and support quality assurance processes to help deliver stable software.
• Contribute to daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and code review sessions, and use feedback to improve your work.
• Create and update technical documentation that explains codebase workflows and product features clearly.
• Keep learning new tools and technologies, study the existing system, and gradually take on more advanced tasks as you progress.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate has a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline, though comparable bootcamp training or hands-on practical experience may also be considered. You should bring a solid foundation in programming, basic familiarity with Git and modern development frameworks, and an introductory understanding of databases such as SQL or NoSQL. Strong problem-solving ability, curiosity, and clear communication are essential, along with the confidence to ask questions and seek clarification when needed.
