Role overview
Pet Valu’s retail network includes Pet Valu, Paulmac’s Pet Food, Bosley’s, Tisol and Total Pet, forming one of the biggest pet-focused retail groups in North America. The stores serve families with food and supplies for dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles and small animals.
The company also supports animal welfare through local shelter and rescue partnerships, adoption activities in selected stores, pet food bank initiatives, and national donation and fundraising campaigns.
As a Keyholder, you will help keep store operations running smoothly, support strong customer experiences, and contribute to store performance. This role involves taking ownership of day-to-day tasks, supporting community presence, and promoting the company’s values of Safety, Compassion, Expertise and Efficiency.
Compensation
Pay starts at $18.20 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Handle cashier duties and assist customers with sales.
- Prepare merchandise orders, complete banking paperwork, and manage other routine admin documents.
- Stock small products such as pet supplies and household items on the sales floor, including items under 10 lbs.
- Carry out standard store upkeep, including sweeping and dusting.
- Unload delivery trucks and move cases and bags of pet food and supplies into stock, including items up to 50 lbs.
- Open and close the store in line with company procedures.
- When the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager is unavailable, set daily priorities and tasks for ACEs.
- Take on other store-related duties as needed.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in retail or customer service.
- Practical knowledge of point-of-sale systems.
- A warm, outgoing personality with strong customer service ability.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Reliable transportation to and from the store is required.
- A valid driver’s licence may be needed.
