The organisation is looking for an upbeat and motivated Kitchen Porter to join its team in Gormanston, County Meath, Ireland. The role is offered on the company salary scale, and the successful candidate will receive the training and development needed for the position.

What you will do

• Work cooperatively with the employer and follow all relevant duties under the Health Act 2007, the Mental Health Act 2001, the Mental Health Amendment Act 2018, the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, and related standards, regulations, and codes of practice as far as reasonably practicable.
• Follow all internal company policies and procedures at all times.
• Use company IT systems only as instructed and protect passwords and personal data, including by avoiding any disclosure that could breach GDPR requirements.
• Escalate any concern about the safety of service users or patients to the line manager or another appropriate manager in line with company policy.
• Act responsibly at all times and cooperate with regulators in the best interests of the service and its users.
• Treat patients and their families with dignity, professionalism, and courtesy.
• Support the delivery of a quality service and work within national and locally developed policies and regulations.
• Safeguard the confidentiality of all information accessed during the course of employment.
• Maintain strict personal and workplace hygiene standards in line with schedules, policies, and procedures.
• Carry out delegated tasks and support daily living activities under supervision as required.
• Contribute as part of a multidisciplinary team by providing portering and general operational support across patient, goods, and service areas, including nursing, therapy, and household settings.
• When instructed, prepare, plate, and serve food and patient meals in accordance with national and local policies and standards.
• Handle the collection of cutlery, crockery, and glassware from patient areas when directed.
• Report equipment issues to the person in charge and ensure all equipment is stored properly.
• Complete any additional duties appropriate to the role, as the job outline is not exhaustive.

Experience and skills

• At least 1 year of previous experience in a similar position.
• Ability to understand and empathise with the needs of others.
• Strong drive to perform well and do work to a high standard.
• Good organisational ability, with a self-motivated and proactive approach.
• Solid verbal, written, and IT communication skills.
• Comfortable working within a multi-department team environment.
• Willingness to learn and adapt.
• Dependable, dedicated, and flexible in the way work is approached.

Working pattern

The role follows a 7-day roster and includes shift-based work.
