What you'll do

• Carry out general labor duties on construction and remediation sites.
• Support excavation work, including hand excavation in areas with contaminated soil.
• Use manual and mechanical clearing tools, operate a power washer, direct site traffic, maintain housekeeping, and handle equipment fueling and other routine construction tasks.
• Follow Safety Data Sheets and comply with instructions for chemicals present at hazardous waste locations.
• Work from written and verbal directions and coordinate through handheld two-way radios.
• Adhere to safety plans, site rules, maintenance guidance, training materials, warning labels, traffic controls, and procedure documents.
• Be prepared to work long shifts and collaborate effectively with the team while also working independently when needed.
• Take on extra tasks and special assignments as directed.

What is required

• High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience expectations vary by laborer level: Laborer 1 requires no prior construction laborer experience, Laborer 2 requires at least 2 years, and Laborer 3 requires at least 5 years.
• Willingness to participate in a drug-free workplace with random drug testing.
• Commitment to maintaining an incident-free and injury-free safety culture.
• Ability to follow demanding physical and safety requirements in field conditions.

Preferred qualifications

• TWIC card is preferred.
• Preferred safety training includes 40-hour HAZWOPER, Competent Person Safety Training, 8-hour Supervisory Training, 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety Training, and First Aid/CPR.
• Additional training may be provided by the company as needed.

Physical requirements and work conditions

The role may involve lifting up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for long periods, climbing in and out of equipment, and working in confined spaces or at heights. The job can involve exposure to heavy machinery, chemicals, dust, fumes, noise, and severe weather. Personal protective equipment such as eye protection, gloves, a hard hat, and steel-toed boots is required.
