Company overview

FBC UK, formed from the coming together of Fox's Biscuits and Burton's Biscuits, is a major UK biscuit manufacturer producing well-known brands such as Maryland, Fox's, Jammie Dodger and Rocky. The business operates eight bakeries across the UK, including Blackpool, and employs around 4,000 people across its sites and headquarters in St Pauls.

The company places people at the centre of its success, valuing fresh thinking, entrepreneurship and a collaborative mindset. It is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where colleagues can grow through formal learning and on-the-job development, while contributing to a business that is authentic, supportive and community-minded.

Role summary

The Labour Analyst position is based at the Blackpool bakery and focuses on maintaining accurate workforce and attendance records, supporting payroll readiness, and helping control labour costs. The role also contributes to HR and payroll administration in line with company processes and legal requirements.

Key duties

  • Keep workforce and time-and-attendance records accurate and up to date, including headcount, full-time equivalents, absence, overtime, agency labour, cost centres and employee changes, so payroll data is complete and reliable.
  • Work through daily exceptions in time-and-attendance data for factory colleagues, liaising closely with Payroll, Time & Attendance and HR teams.
  • Prepare scheduled and ad hoc labour reports and analysis covering hours worked, absence, forecast versus actual performance, risk hours and PP exposure, while identifying patterns, issues and improvement areas.
  • Review labour spend and productivity drivers to support budgeting, cost control, forecasting and corrective action.
  • Assist with workforce planning, including shift cover, capacity planning and demand forecasting.
  • Provide dependable labour reporting for plant production teams so the information can be used for payroll checks, audits and management decisions.
  • Manage agency timesheets and access for new starters, ensuring both are processed accurately and on time.
  • Work with Operations, Plant Planning, HR and Finance to explain processes, support system changes, improve ways of working and deliver training when needed.
  • Spot opportunities to improve time, attendance and labour reporting systems and processes, helping drive efficiency and continuous improvement.

Candidate profile

Applicants should have experience handling workforce, labour, payroll or time-and-attendance data, ideally within manufacturing or FMCG. A strong attention to detail, confidence with labour reporting, and a sound understanding of attendance and payroll processes are important. The role also calls for experience comparing forecast hours against actuals, supporting labour cost control, and working effectively with cross-functional teams in a busy environment.

What the role requires

  • Hands-on experience with workforce, labour, payroll or time-and-attendance data.
  • Experience in manufacturing or FMCG is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and a solid grasp of payroll and attendance processes.
  • Ability to build labour reports and interpret trends, variances and anomalies.
  • Comfort with forecasting versus actual analysis and labour cost monitoring.
  • Confidence working with Payroll, HR, Operations and Planning teams in a fast-moving setting.
  • Experience using HR, payroll or time-management systems.
  • Clear communication skills and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.

Diversity and inclusion

FBC UK says it is committed to a diverse and inclusive culture where employees feel valued and have equal access to opportunity. The company aims to support curiosity and natural talent so colleagues can develop personally and professionally and succeed throughout their careers.
