Job Purpose

The Lead - Forest Clearance (Site)-Tx will own and accelerate forest clearance activity for transmission projects. The role is centered on ensuring all statutory and environmental approvals are obtained on time, in coordination with government bodies, regulators, and internal teams, so that project execution is not held back by compliance-related delays. The position also covers documentation, site coordination, inspection support, and resolution of regulatory concerns.

Key Responsibilities

This role focuses on planning, securing, and tracking forest clearance approvals while maintaining full regulatory compliance and supporting timely project delivery.

• Coordinate with forest departments, environmental agencies, and other authorities to secure approvals within project timelines.
• Manage forest diversion and related land-related actions, including support for encroachment resolution and compensatory afforestation commitments.
• Align clearance milestones with construction schedules so that project execution remains on track and risks are reduced.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable laws and regulations, including the Forest Conservation Act, Wildlife Protection Act, and other statutory provisions.
• Prepare, review, and submit accurate documentation such as environmental impact assessments, afforestation plans, and clearance applications.
• Maintain complete and current records of approvals, compliance certificates, and official correspondence to support audits and internal reviews.
• Develop strong working relationships with divisional forest officers, nodal agencies, and environmental committees to keep approvals moving.
• Address concerns linked to biodiversity, wildlife permissions, and compensatory afforestation obligations in a timely manner.
• Share regular updates with internal project teams so clearance status remains aligned with execution plans.
• Identify legal, environmental, or land-related obstacles early and work with relevant teams to resolve them proactively.
• Support site-level issue resolution by coordinating with legal, project, and land acquisition teams.
• Use GIS-based monitoring, digital mapping, and dashboard tools to improve visibility of clearance progress.
• Apply data-driven methods to spot bottlenecks and improve turnaround times in forest clearance workflows.
• Guide field teams, build regulatory awareness, and reinforce adherence to clearance procedures and site compliance practices.
• Conduct training sessions that strengthen understanding of environmental regulations and sustainable project execution.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Ecology, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a closely related discipline is required.

The role calls for 5 to 10 years of experience in forest clearance, environmental compliance, or land acquisition within infrastructure or energy environments.

This position is focused on transmission-site forest clearance work and involves active liaison with public authorities, compliance bodies, and cross-functional project teams.
