Role Summary
The retreat is looking for a capable and adaptable Maintenance Technician to take on project-based work or a longer-term assignment focused on keeping the property in good working order. This person will handle a broad mix of repairs and routine maintenance tasks across the site, helping ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming setting for guests and staff.
Key Work Areas
- Carry out plumbing repairs in guest rooms, such as replacing faucets, unclogging sinks and bathtubs, fixing toilets, and resolving small leaks.
- Perform simple electrical tasks, including changing light fixtures, updating outlets and switches, and safely diagnosing minor electrical faults.
- Complete basic carpentry repairs involving doors, cabinets, shelving, and other light woodwork or hardware replacements.
- Handle painting and drywall maintenance by patching holes, sanding surfaces, repairing damaged drywall, and doing interior or exterior touch-up painting.
- Repair or replace wall and floor tiles, including regrouting and sealing where needed.
Qualifications
Applicants should have prior experience in a Maintenance Technician role or a similar position that requires a broad mix of trade skills. Practical ability with hand tools, power tools, and basic plumbing and electrical equipment is essential. The role also calls for strong attention to detail, especially when completing finishing work such as painting and tiling.
Candidates must be able to work on their own, maintain a daily task list, and communicate clearly with retreat management. Legal authorization to work in The Bahamas is required, whether through citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid work permit.
Additional Information
This opportunity is described as project-based or ongoing, depending on operational needs. The setting is an active retreat environment where maintenance work contributes directly to guest comfort, safety, and overall property standards.
