Role overview

This permanent mechanical engineering opportunity is based in Qatar within the petrochemical sector. The role focuses on rotating equipment and supports engineering delivery across design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and ongoing reliability improvement.

Education and experience

A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required, along with 7 years of relevant experience in the assigned engineering discipline. Prior exposure to project management and contractor management is also expected.

Technical expertise

The position calls for strong capability in selecting and validating the design of rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, steam turbines, and package units. Experience with EPC project compliance, mechanical engineering practices, and industrial automation is important, along with solid troubleshooting and analytical ability.

Key responsibilities

You will help maintain the reliability of rotating equipment already in service, while providing engineering support across planning, monitoring, coordination, design, procurement, installation, and commissioning. The role also serves as the main mechanical engineering contact for contractors and consultants, and requires close control of project execution against approved plans, budgets, HSE expectations, and quality standards.

Additional duties include guiding detailed engineering work, defining procurement and installation requirements, and carrying out root cause failure analysis to determine why equipment breaks down and what corrective actions should be taken.

Leadership expectations

This role involves leading engineers and coordinating the work of personnel, contractors, and consultants. You will be expected to supervise assigned teams, review their work, and approve activities where required.
