Role Summary

This is a full-time, on-site Mine Surveyor position based in Harare. The selected professional will carry out surface surveying duties for a gold mining operation, helping with mine planning, design, and production monitoring. The role requires day-to-day use of survey control points, total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, spatial data collection and processing, and the preparation of survey plans, sections, and volume calculations. The surveyor will also work closely with geology, engineering, and production teams to provide reliable survey information that supports operational decisions.

Key Duties

• Perform surface survey work to support mining activities and production tracking.
• Establish and mark survey control points across the site.
• Operate total station instruments and GPS/GNSS equipment for field data capture.
• Collect, process, and organize spatial survey information accurately.
• Prepare survey plans, cross-sections, and volume computations.
• Share current survey data with geology, engineering, and production teams for planning and decision-making.
• Look after survey instruments and maintain them in good working condition.
• Keep survey files, records, and documentation properly organized and up to date.
• Work in line with safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements.
• Support reconciliation of coal extraction and stockpiles as part of operational monitoring.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate should have solid practical knowledge of land surveying in mining or heavy-industry settings. Experience with total station work on both underground and surface survey assignments is important, along with familiarity with Trimble GPS or comparable GNSS systems. Exposure to coal mining operations, including stockpile handling and basic extraction processes, will be useful. A diploma or degree in Mine Surveying, Geomatics, Surveying, or another relevant technical field is required. The role also calls for the ability to work with survey or CAD software to process data, prepare drawings, and carry out volume calculations.
