Planning Manager

Role overview

This opportunity is for a Planning Manager with Gulf Asia Contracting in Doha, Qatar. The position focuses on building and managing project schedules, tracking execution progress, and supporting timely delivery across project phases. The role is central to keeping plans realistic, resources aligned, and issues identified early so that project objectives are met efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and refine detailed project schedules using suitable planning software.
• Work with stakeholders to define scope, timelines, milestones, and delivery targets.
• Track ongoing progress, spot schedule slippages or risks, and take corrective steps early.
• Prepare progress reports, dashboards, and other tracking documents for project review.
• Coordinate closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to keep execution aligned with the plan.
• Assess manpower, materials, and equipment needs to support effective resource deployment.
• Compare planned progress with actual performance, study variances, and suggest improvements.
• Ensure that planning activities follow project requirements, contractual obligations, and organizational standards.
• Provide planning insights and data-backed updates to assist project management decisions.
• Attend project meetings and communicate schedule status, risks, and key updates.
• Apply proven planning methods to improve efficiency and help reduce delays.
• Keep complete records of schedules, revisions, and planning-related documentation.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline is required.
• Applicants should have 8 to 12 years of experience in project planning and scheduling.
• Experience with large industrial, oil and gas, or construction projects is preferred.
• Working knowledge of planning software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar tools is expected.
• A solid grasp of project management principles and methodologies is necessary.
