Role Overview
The Product Manager for Build - Assessment will independently own product areas within the Build Assessment domain, with responsibility across discovery, delivery, prioritization, and customer outcomes. The focus is on feature functionality for Build APIs, especially for learner and developer audiences. You will partner with internal teams and external customers to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints while keeping a mature, large-scale assessment product stable and reliable.
A major part of the role is handling defects quickly and effectively, while also contributing to roadmap direction, release planning, go-to-market work, and the evolution of AI-enabled product development practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead discovery work to uncover user problems and identify product opportunities.
- Help shape roadmap direction and broader product strategy.
- Evaluate customer, commercial, and technical trade-offs to guide decisions.
- Write and refine product requirements from initial analysis through to delivery.
- Prioritize the backlog across features, technical debt, bugs, and enablers.
- Coordinate delivery work and manage cross-team dependencies.
- Work closely with engineering and design to deliver strong product outcomes.
- Plan releases and support rollout activities.
- Spot delivery risks early and put mitigation plans in place.
- Maintain product quality and support positive customer outcomes.
- Partner with marketing on launch collateral and campaign preparation.
- Enable customer-facing teams through feature training.
- Act as a customer advocate for engineering and design discussions.
- Keep feedback loops active with customers and stakeholders.
- Run internal demos and present product capabilities to customers and prospects.
- Build strong working relationships across product, engineering, and business functions.
- Support alignment across teams and communicate priorities clearly.
- Track product and feature success measures.
- Review product performance and customer feedback to identify improvements.
- Help improve product practices and workflows.
- Support the adoption of AI-enabled product development methods.
Requirements
- Strong AI literacy, with the ability to use AI to improve personal output and contribute to AI-powered product solutions.
- At least 3 years of experience in product management or a closely related role.
- Background in designing, managing, and supporting public API products.
- Experience working on mature products that operate at scale.
- Solid technical understanding of web applications; coding is not required, but technical fluency is important.
- Experience in EdTech or an educational environment is an advantage.
- Interest or experience in building software that is accessible to all users is a plus.
- Proactive working style with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Ability to make independent product decisions with confidence.
- Comfort balancing strategic thinking with day-to-day execution.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to build trusted stakeholder relationships.
- Strong capability to create alignment and momentum across teams.

- Product stability is maintained across the assessment environment.
- The existing assessment product footprint is well understood and well managed.
- New features are successfully developed, released, and promoted.
- Strong cross-functional relationships are established within the Build team.
- AI-supported product management and software development workflows are adopted effectively.
