Role overview
Trimble is hiring a Production Planning Professional to help coordinate wood flow logistics in Gisborne, New Zealand. The role focuses on balancing day-to-day contractor and trucking requirements with broader forest-owner objectives, using specialist logistics tools to improve delivery performance and strengthen working relationships across the supply chain.

What the role involves
This position sits at the center of regional logistics operations. You will coordinate harvesting contractors and logging trucks, keep fleet use as high as possible, and work to reduce distribution costs. The role goes beyond standard scheduling and requires proactive problem-solving, support for regional leadership, and a strong safety-focused approach to operations.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and adjust the daily movement of harvesting contractors and logging trucks so load uplift and fleet use are optimized.
- Operate and oversee wood flow schedules through specialist logistics software to support commercially successful outcomes for clients.
- Resolve operational issues as they arise by working directly with suppliers and customers in the field.
- Monitor, analyze, and share updates on production, inventory, and delivery performance to keep the supply chain visible and on track.
Required experience and capabilities
The employer is looking for someone with strong communication skills and the ability to create effective working relationships, including negotiation with suppliers, customers, and contractors. You should be comfortable juggling several priorities, solving problems calmly under pressure, and working in a structured, organized way. High IT literacy is important, along with good time management. Applicants must also have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
Preferred background
A tertiary qualification such as a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Logistics, or Business would be an advantage. Experience in forestry or trucking operations is also beneficial, as is familiarity with tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, or transport dispatch software.

This is an in-office position based in Gisborne, New Zealand.
