Role overview
Hynds Pipe Systems Limited is looking for a hands-on Production Technician to support day-to-day output at its Winton factory in Southland. The role suits someone with practical experience in a concrete manufacturing setting who can contribute to meeting production targets, maintaining a positive team environment, and strengthening health and safety practices on site.
Key responsibilities
- Follow the manufacturing schedule closely so the plant can meet planned production volumes.
- Carry out mould preparation, mould assembly, reinforcement setup, concrete casting and pouring, formwork removal, cleaning, finishing, and other tasks needed to produce items safely.
- Take forms apart once the concrete has cured, then mark and identify products according to the production drawings.
- Use power tools and operate equipment such as a forklift, while also handling tying and rolling wires and pouring concrete.
- Work with portable concrete-mixing equipment and manually produce structural concrete items by loading sand, cement, gravel, or pumice into the mixer.
- Use quality control records correctly, check them as required, and respond quickly to any non-conformance issues.
Experience and attributes
The company is seeking candidates with prior exposure to precast concrete production and the ability to read and interpret plans or technical drawings. You should be comfortable making sound decisions and putting them into practice, communicate clearly with others, and be able to manage manual handling tasks, including lifting up to 25 kg. A working knowledge of workshop health and safety standards is important. An F endorsement is considered an advantage.
