Role overview
The Quantity Surveyor will manage the full contract administration cycle for subcontractors and major suppliers, ensuring compliance with client agreements, internal policies and operational procedures. The role supports both Development and Operations teams across the entire project lifecycle, from early-stage development through to operational handover and implementation.
This position involves close coordination with a wide range of stakeholders to align contract management with project goals, reduce commercial risk and improve procurement and supplier processes.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the commercial side of construction contracts, including cost management, subcontractor procurement and negotiation of commercial terms.
- Monitor contract obligations, financial exposure, milestones, payments and reporting requirements.
- Review contractor pricing submissions, validate rates and check quantity measurements for accuracy.
- Work with managers and stakeholders on day-to-day matters and project milestones through different communication channels.
- Handle contract financial administration within project budgets and company policies, including variations, project reporting and maintenance of contract records and registers.
- Prepare head contract progress claims and assist with reviewing and responding to contractual correspondence.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Contracts Administrator or Quantity Surveyor with exposure to large, multi-disciplinary construction projects. Experience in commercial and financial management within commercial property or industrial environments will be highly valuable.
This role is not at senior level and is best suited to someone with several years of relevant experience. You should be comfortable dealing with complex contracts, engaging with diverse stakeholders, and using negotiation and influence to achieve strong outcomes while preserving relationships.
Strong Excel capability, sound communication skills, and a disciplined approach to delivery and deadlines are important for success.
Requirements
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Background as a Contracts Administrator, Quantity Surveyor or in project finance on large, multi-disciplinary construction projects.
- Experience preparing contract agreements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to influence others, negotiate effectively and resolve conflict.
- Collaborative, diligent and deadline-focused approach.
- Must be an NZ citizen or permanent resident and able to obtain NZ Security Clearance.

Location
The role is based onsite in Auckland, with either Silverside or Hobsonville mentioned as possible work locations.
