Role overview
You will be the first person patients meet at The Smile Centre Canterbury, a modern four-surgery dental practice offering specialist care such as implants, endodontics and orthodontics. The role is centred on creating a calm, friendly experience for every visitor while keeping the front desk and practice administration running efficiently.
Location
The Smile Centre Canterbury, 11 Upper Bridge Street, Canterbury, CT1 2NA.
Working pattern
This is a Monday to Friday position, 8:30am to 5:30pm, with one Saturday required each month.
Key duties
As the reception lead, you will support patients from arrival through to departure and help maintain a smooth day-to-day workflow across the practice.
- Welcome patients warmly in person and by phone, answer questions, and help maintain a reassuring atmosphere.
- Manage the appointment diary, including new bookings, cancellations and rescheduling.
- Assist patients by explaining procedures, treatment choices, payment steps, and the difference between private and NHS services.
- Keep patient information accurate, current and confidential, while maintaining a professional reception area.
- Handle concerns and complaints in a calm, empathetic and solution-focused manner.
- Support clinicians with handovers, contribute to the patient journey, and provide administrative help to the Practice Manager.
