Role overview
AccuraGen is hiring a Research Associate to support a range of research activities centered on assay development and clinical validation. In this position, you will help with experimental planning, sample handling, data capture, and analysis while working closely with scientists to move the company’s MRD assay work forward.
Core responsibilities
- Accept incoming specimen shipments and carry out sample processing.
- Prepare specimens for routine testing and downstream analysis.
- Run testing tasks under the guidance of senior team members.
- Carry out standard lab procedures in line with departmental SOPs.
- Support improvements and development work across molecular biology and genomics workflows.
- Document methods, materials, and results accurately and consistently in a well-maintained lab notebook.
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to keep them functioning properly.
- Help maintain a tidy, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
- Assist with lab safety tasks, hazardous waste handling, and facilities-related support.
- Use sound technical judgment when addressing testing issues and solving problems.
- Take on additional responsibilities as required.
- Adjust working hours when needed to meet urgent project deadlines and milestones.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in life sciences, or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 1 year of experience in a laboratory environment.
- Working knowledge of basic lab safety practices and procedures.
- Comfort using common laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Good understanding of core molecular biology methods such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA/RNA extraction.
- Basic computer proficiency, including data entry, spreadsheets, and document preparation.
- Preferred: prior experience in a research lab.
- Preferred: exposure to next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies.
