Senior QA Engineer (Telecom)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer who brings strong telecom protocol testing expertise and a solid background in quality engineering. The position is based in Bengaluru and focuses on ensuring dependable delivery of telecom and software solutions through rigorous validation, automation, and end-to-end system testing. The role calls for more than 5 years of QA experience, close coordination with technical and business teams, and a strong focus on product quality.

Responsibilities

• Build and run test strategies, frameworks, and QA practices for telecom protocol validation and system-level testing.
• Work closely with product, architecture, and engineering teams to ensure quality objectives support business goals.
• Carry out end-to-end validation of telecom protocols such as 3G, 4G, 5G, IMS, SIP, Diameter, SS7, and related standards.
• Contribute to test planning, execution, automation expansion, and defect handling.
• Perform risk analysis, investigate root causes, and support preventive and corrective actions.
• Monitor and share quality KPIs and metrics with project leadership.
• Keep up with new telecom technologies, protocol updates, testing approaches, and modern QA tools.
• Assist customer-facing teams in managing escalations, resolving quality concerns, and supporting acceptance testing.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in quality engineering with deep exposure to telecom protocols including LTE, 5G, IMS, SIP, Diameter, SS7, VoIP, RAN, and core network domains.
• Practical experience with protocol simulators, analyzers, and testing tools such as Wireshark, Spirent, Keysight, and IXIA.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of databases including Postgres, Couchbase, and ClickHouse, along with the ability to write and understand SQL queries.
• Experience with test automation frameworks and scripting in Python, Shell, or Java.
• Working knowledge of cloud-native environments such as Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS, GCP, or Azure, plus CI/CD workflows.
• Exposure to big data and analytics ecosystems like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka is an added advantage.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
• Additional value if you have experience with other core network technologies and telecom protocols.
• Familiarity with security testing and standards such as ISO 27001, GDPR, or GSMA security guidance is preferred.
• Experience working on integration testing with third-party vendors or external teams is a plus.

Applicants should hold a B.C.A. in any specialization, B.Sc in any specialization, or a B.Tech / B.E. in any specialization.
