The wider group operates across property, civil works, infrastructure, and mining, supported by a workforce of more than 2,000 people and a fleet exceeding 550 machines. Its integrated operating model brings together materials, plant, and support services in-house. The group aims to lead across its markets through steady growth, a strong identity, deeply held values, and a regional focus, while delivering quality buildings and infrastructure for communities throughout regional Australia.
Role Overview
This is a fixed-term 18-month contract for an experienced Site Supervisor based in Launceston, Tasmania. The position plays an important part in the day-to-day delivery of major construction projects. You will oversee specific trade packages, make sure work is carried out safely and to the expected quality, and ensure activities align with the approved program. Reporting to the Site Manager, you will help coordinate trades, uphold site safety standards, and support inspection and hold-point processes.
Key Duties
- Lead daily construction activities for allocated trade packages so work progresses in line with the program and required standards.
- Work with subcontractors and site trades to coordinate interfaces, sequence activities, and manage access on site.
- Check and uphold compliance with safety plans, method statements, and quality controls, while escalating schedule risks, safety observations, and quality issues.
- Prepare site diaries, daily inspection logs, and progress updates as needed.
- Run toolbox talks and site inductions, and maintain workforce compliance records for the assigned packages.
- Support the tracking and documentation of variation work that arises within the supervised packages.
- Partner with the engineering team on design questions and inspection hold points related to the works under your care.
About You
To succeed in this position, you should bring at least 5 years of site supervision experience in the building construction sector, along with direct experience managing trade packages on major projects. A White Card and Certificate IV in Building and Construction, or a similar qualification, would be an advantage. You will need a solid working understanding of WHS laws, safe work method statements, and standard construction site practices, plus a practical, hands-on leadership style and strong knowledge of trades and construction. Clear communication with subcontractors, trades, and the wider project team is essential, as is a dependable approach to record keeping and supporting site management to meet program targets.
