Role Overview
The Supply Chain Operations Lead is accountable for end-to-end material flow through the manufacturing cycle, including planning, scheduling, inventory control, stockroom, shipping, receiving, warehouse, and logistics functions. The role is central to maintaining material readiness, inventory integrity, efficient warehouse performance, and on-time customer fulfillment through close coordination with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Program Management.
This position also acts as the main point of contact for production scheduling, material readiness, inventory management, and logistics execution in support of customer commitments and operational goals.
Production Control
- Build and update production schedules using customer demand, material availability, and factory capacity as inputs.
- Release work orders and manage them in line with production priorities.
- Track manufacturing progress and revise schedules when shortages, engineering changes, or capacity limits arise.
- Work with Manufacturing, Procurement, and Program Management to help ensure shipments go out on time.
- Monitor and report schedule performance, material shortages, and production status.
- Contribute to revenue and shipment forecasts through accurate production planning.
Material Planning and Inventory Control
- Review material requirements and coordinate replenishment actions.
- Watch inventory levels to keep production properly supplied.
- Process inventory transactions and keep ERP records accurate.
- Look into and resolve stock differences.
- Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory exercises.
- Help manage raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventories.
Stockroom and Warehouse Operations
- Direct day-to-day stockroom and warehouse activities.
- Make sure materials are received, stored, issued, moved, and handled accurately.
- Keep the warehouse orderly and efficient using 5S practices.
- Maintain correct material identification, traceability, and inventory control.
- Support handling processes for serialized, controlled, ITAR, and customer-owned items.
Shipping, Receiving, and Logistics
- Manage all inbound and outbound shipping work.
- Coordinate shipments within the U.S. and internationally.
- Ensure customer orders and supplier receipts are processed without delay.
- Prepare and review shipping documents and export-related paperwork.
- Coordinate with carriers and freight vendors.
- Track shipping performance and logistics spend.
- Ensure activities meet company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
Continuous Improvement
- Find opportunities to improve material movement, warehouse productivity, inventory accuracy, and delivery performance.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and ongoing improvement efforts.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures for logistics and production control workflows.
- Help investigate the root causes of material shortages, inventory issues, and shipment delays.
Qualifications
Required:
- An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or a related area, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in Production Control, Materials Planning, Logistics, Warehouse Operations, or Manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP platforms.
- Solid knowledge of production scheduling, inventory control, and logistics processes.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
Preferred:
- Background in Aerospace, Defense, Electronics Manufacturing, or high-mix, low-volume production environments.
- Familiarity with ITAR, CUI, and government contracting obligations.
- APICS CPIM, CSCP, or a comparable certification.
- Experience using Sage X3, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems.
