Role Overview

First Student is looking for a Service Employee/Utility Clerk to help keep the location operating efficiently. This position supports location employees, managers, and drivers by maintaining order in the yard, handling fuel-related records, and assisting with routine bus maintenance tasks.

Hourly pay for this role is $20.00.

What You’ll Do

• Open the yard gates, inspect bus parking areas, and make sure vehicles can be dispatched without delays; move buses as needed to keep traffic flowing.
• Keep accurate documentation, including Bulk Fuel Receiving Reports, Fuel Variance Reports, Month-end Closing Reports, and Meter Calibration Reports.
• Inform the Location Manager or another designated contact when fuel needs to be delivered, and verify stick readings before and after delivery.
• Check and top off vehicle fluids such as oil, antifreeze, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, and belts on buses being fueled.
• Carry out light interior and exterior bus maintenance when required.
• Complete additional duties or instructions assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalency.
• Working knowledge of bus maintenance.
• Willingness and ability to learn maintenance-related skills.
• Must be able to pass DOT drug testing and a physical exam; Schedule I substances, including marijuana, are not permitted under DOT regulation 49 CFR Part 40.

Physical Conditions and Work Environment

• Must be able to move around the office and between floors, use standard office equipment, access filing systems and cabinets, and communicate clearly in person and by phone.
• Travel is limited or generally unnecessary, though occasional meetings with local customers may be needed.
