About AOCA Engineering Consultants
AOCA Engineering Consultants (AOCA Ltd.) was founded in 1996 and has grown into a well-established Irish consultancy. The firm works across civil, structural, and forensic engineering, architectural design, planning, and insurance assessment. It serves clients across Ireland and beyond, and places strong emphasis on practical solutions, client service, quality, innovation, and value across a wide variety of construction projects.
Role overview
This is a full-time, on-site Architectural Technologist position based in Portlaoise. The role focuses on supporting project design and delivery through the preparation of accurate architectural, construction, and working drawings that align with project needs and regulatory requirements.
Key duties
In this position, you will create detailed technical drawings, coordinate with engineers and other design specialists, and help prepare planning submissions and specifications. You will assess design information for constructability, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency, participate in project discussions, and handle technical queries as they arise. The role also includes supporting site-related work by reviewing construction details, updating project documentation, and helping ensure the original design intent is carried through during delivery.
Qualifications and capabilities
The ideal candidate should be able to turn design ideas into practical, buildable outcomes and produce precise technical drawings with clear graphical communication. Experience with working drawings, architectural drawings, and coordinated construction drawings is important, along with a relevant third-level qualification in Architectural Technology or a closely related field. Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, or similar CAD/BIM tools is expected. A solid understanding of Irish building regulations, construction methods, and industry best practices is also required, together with strong attention to detail, good organisation, and the ability to juggle multiple deadlines. Effective communication and teamwork are essential for working with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders.
Additional information
The role is based on-site in Portlaoise and is offered as a full-time position.
