Back Up Nanny

Role Overview

Jovie is hiring a back-up nanny for families in Seattle, Bellevue, and Redmond, WA. This is an in-home childcare role designed for someone who enjoys an active, imaginative, and adaptable work environment. The position is well suited to people with prior babysitting, daycare, nanny, or church nursery experience, as well as retired teachers or education professionals who want a smaller setting than a classroom. It also works well for candidates who need scheduling flexibility around school, family, or another role. Full-time openings are available in Seattle and the Eastside.

What You’ll Do

• Provide in-home care for children without being responsible for transporting them.
• Keep the child’s immediate area tidy through normal cleanup related to meals or activities.
• Support families needing care for children from infancy through toddler age, with the greatest need for children under 2 years old.
• Create safe, hands-on, age-appropriate activities based on the child’s developmental stage and your observations.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly pay ranges from $20 to $25.
• Paid training is included, along with a nanny kit stocked with activities and games to use during assignments.

Candidate Profile

• You should be at least 18 years old.
• Previous experience with children is required, whether paid or unpaid, and infant experience is mandatory.
• You must have dependable transportation and be willing to travel to different homes in the area.
• Availability is needed for any 4 or more days per week, with 6 to 8 hour shifts between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
• You should be responsive, communicative, and ready to greet families with a positive attitude.

Work Environment

The role takes place in active, child-focused settings and includes cleaning up after activities. Time outdoors may be part of the day when weather allows, and the job involves active play.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent bending, squatting, lifting, reaching, and pushing are part of the job.
• You must be able to safely lift up to 35 pounds.
• You should be able to move from the floor to standing and back again multiple times throughout the day.
• Quick reactions may be needed in certain situations.
• You may need to respond calmly, safely, and effectively in urgent situations.
